Health and wellbeing

Health and wellbeing has been a major focus for Vicinity in FY17.

During the year, we launched our new wellbeing program to support our team members in having a better work life balance and live happy healthy lives.

The program covers a range of aspects important to a person’s overall health and wellbeing, and focuses specifically on five elements – mental health, physical health, nutrition, financial health and physical activity. Vicinity offers a range of corporate discounts and services to our people across the five focus areas of our program. For example, Vicinity has implemented comprehensive health checks for all executives and senior leaders, and offered free services such as skin checks, flu vaccinations and corporate massages to all employees.

A number of other company benefits additionally support our wellbeing program, such as flexible working arrangements and a variety of leave options to help employees balance personal and professional responsibilities. These include formal and informal flexible working programs, paid parental leave, personal or carers leave, study leave, volunteer leave, a ThankYou day to recognise hard work during the year and a complementary day off on their birthday.

Throughout the year, we carried out a series of educational sessions and posted a number of internal case studies on our intranet attempting to break down stereotypes or preconceived ideas about the uses of our flexible working and

leave options to show broad examples of their applicability and encourage wider adoption across the business.

Vicinity also offers a confidential employee assistance program free of charge to all employees and their immediate families to assist them with work related and personal issues at their own discretion.

Case study: Wellbeing at our new national office

In December 2016, Vicinity moved our two Melbourne offices into a single national office at Tower One, Chadstone.

The building received a 5 Star Green Star Design/As Built rating, and fit out was designed to promote collaboration, employee engagement and health and wellbeing.

Our new office space includes plenty of greenery and natural light – a factor that enhances employee productivity, and all work stations are located within three meters of an external window.

The entire office is fitted with sit-to-stand ergonomic work stations, collaborative work places and a large break out area, where our people can collaborate, socialise and work more effectively.

An internal stairway connecting all Vicinity floors, high quality end of trip facilities, a wellness room and an innovation garage fitted with a table tennis table promotes both physical and mental wellbeing.
